Teaching Money Skills That Matter

We believe every young person deserves access to practical financial knowledge before they face real-world money decisions.

Our Story

It started with a simple observation: teenagers were leaving school able to calculate compound interest on paper but couldn't explain why their mobile phone contract was terrible value.

The gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application was enormous. We set out to bridge it.

What began as weekend workshops for neighbourhood children grew into a comprehensive curriculum serving hundreds of families across Belfast.

Philosophy Over Formulas

Financial education fails when it's treated like maths revision. Money is emotional, psychological, and deeply personal.

Our approach integrates cognitive development research with behavioural economics. We don't just teach budgeting spreadsheets. We explore why we make the choices we make.

Children learn through experimentation and failure in safe environments. Teenagers engage with real dilemmas they'll face within months. Every lesson connects to lived experience.

What Guides Us

Age-Appropriate Always

A seven-year-old doesn't need to understand mortgage rates. But they can grasp opportunity cost through choosing between toys. We meet learners where they are.

Judgement-Free Zones

Money carries shame and anxiety for many families. Our sessions are built on respect, curiosity, and the understanding that everyone's starting point differs.

Practical Over Perfect

Financial literacy isn't about optimal investment strategies. It's about making reasonable decisions with incomplete information. We teach good enough, not perfect.

Question Everything

We actively encourage skepticism. Why does this cost that much? Who benefits from this arrangement? Critical thinking matters more than memorised rules.

Who We Serve

Our programmes welcome all families regardless of income, background, or existing financial knowledge. We've worked with children who've never received pocket money and teenagers managing part-time job earnings.

Parents often tell us they're learning alongside their children. That's intentional. Financial conversations shouldn't stop when the programme ends.

We also partner with schools, youth organisations, and community groups to reach young people who might not otherwise access structured financial education.
